Marramarra Lodge is situated just 40 minutes by road and boat from Sydney, nestled on the edge of Marramarra National Park and accessed only by the Hawkesbury River.

Catering only to a small number of guests Marramarra Lodge offers bespoke onsite activities with a daily Champagne and Oyster Sunset cruise, Indigenous experiences, Budyari Restaurant, Iyora Day Spa, push bikes, canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and a range of books and board games, all complimentary for guests use.
A range of unique taylor made activities including Private pearl farm tour, Pearl oyster jewellery design class, Oyster punt tour and tasting, Guided indigenous foraging for food and medicinal plants, Indigenous art and culture tour with smoking ceremony, Fishing expeditions, or if something faster paced is more your style, self drive jet ski tour and boat tours, chauffeured local tours, dine at iconic river access eateries such as Peats Bite or Berowra Waters Inn, or picnic on a private beach.
Travel from Sydney harbour by seaplane or helicopter over the harbour bridge and and Opera house to arrive only 25mins later at our helipad or jetty.
History
Marramarra Lodge and it’s immediate surrounds are abundant with history for guests to explore and the team onsite, led by General Manager Shona Philps, will happily share tales of the echoes of the past. In a nod to the traditional custodians of the land, the Dharug people, Marramarra itself is a Dharug word meaning ‘many fish’, the naming continues throughout the property from rooms to the restaurant. Shellfish middens and rock carvings can both be found on the peninsula. Just a short canoe trip away is Bar Island where guests will find the both Dharug and early European settler archaeology and a hidden tribute to lost sailors. Marramarra National Park surrounds the Lodge and peninsula. Hiking and boating is the best way to discover both the cultural history and wildlife. Typical wildlife at Marramarra lodge includes sea eagles, lyrebirds, wallabies, goannas, bandicoot, black and white cockatoos, bush turkeys and kookaburras.
Outward Bound Camp opened its Australian camp and headquarters in 1956, the peninsula enjoyed 20 years of providing coming of age experiences for young men and even enjoyed a visit from Bonnie Prince Charles! Transitioning to Knox Grammar Schools’ camp, the property again enjoyed a vibrant and educational atmosphere. Finally resting in the hands of the current owners in 2019, Marramarra Lodge was born of three friends from the South Coast of NSW, wanting to create a luxury lodge couched in authentic local experience for all outdoor adventurers and lovers of lux and relaxation.
