Voyages to the very top of the world in 2023

Huge savings of up to $A52,610 per couple and A$61,200 for solo travellers – plus complimentary hotel stays – are available until 30 April 30 2022, on two special, all-inclusive Arctic voyages in 2023 to the North Pole and through the Northwest Passage aboard Ponant’s new, luxury, polar exploration eco ship, Le Commandant Charcot.

Australian small ship cruise specialist, Cruise Traveller, is offering the exclusive new Arctic packages which offer the rare and prized opportunities to journey to the very top of the world where few travellers have been.

Launched last year and named after French polar scientist Jean-Baptiste Charcot, the 245-guest Le Commandant Charcot is the world’s first hybrid electric polar exploration ship powered by liquified natural gas and as such ranks as one of the greenest expedition vessels in the world. Designed for polar exploration, the powerful, eco-friendly but luxurious ship boasts two restaurants, indoor and outdoor heated pools, spa, gym, sauna, snow room, panoramic lounges and bars, library and a theatre.

Voyage to the North Pole – 19-night package
The Voyage to the North Pole package offers the once-in-a-lifetime chance to journey through the ice-studded Arctic Sea to the Geographic North Pole at the very top of the world. The 19-night ‘North Pole’s Heart and Soul’ package begins on 23 August 2023, with three complimentary nights in romantic Paris and a complimentary day trip to the chateau-filled Loire Valley. Guests then fly on a special flight to the far-north Norwegian island of Spitsbergen to board Le Commandant Charcot in Longyearbyen for their spectacular, ice-filled, 15-night voyage north as far as you can go to the Geographic North Pole, keeping an eye out for polar bears and seals on the way. The voyage ends in Iceland with a night in a hotel in the capital, Reykjavik.

Including hotel accommodation, the flight to Spitsbergen, an open bar of onboard beverages and Zodiac excursions, fares are available from A$44,500 per person in a Balcony Stateroom – a saving of A$20,680 pp. In a Deluxe Balcony Suite, fares are available from A$47,470 per person – a saving of A$21,982 pp. For solos, fares are available from A$65,250 in a Balcony Stateroom– a saving of A$61,200. Journey through the Northwest Passage – 28-night package
The Journey through the Northwest Passage package offers the incredible opportunity to journey through the whole length of the famed Northwest Passage amid the icy wilderness of Canada, revealing the Arctic’s stunning icebergs, fjords, glaciers, remote and intact Inuit communities, polar bears, seabirds and whales.  Linking the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the Northwest Passage is only navigable by ships a few weeks a year after the peak of summer.

This 28-night ‘All of the Northwest Passage’ itinerary starts on 8 September, 2023, with three complimentary nights at a hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland, as well as a complimentary day tour of Iceland’s stunning waterfalls, villages and geothermal attractions. Guests then board Le Commandant Charcot for a memorable 24-night voyage past Greenland and through the Northwest Passage to Nome in northern Alaska. A flight south to Seattle for a night’s stay ends the holiday.

Including hotel accommodation, the flight to Seattle, an open bar of onboard beverages and Zodiac excursions, fares are available from A$53,370 per person in a Balcony Stateroom – a saving of A$24,780 pp. In a Deluxe Balcony Suite, fares are available from A$56,930 per person – a saving of A$26,305 pp or A$52,610 per couple. For solos, fares are available from A$95,450 in a Balcony Stateroom– a saving of A$60,035. Book by 30 April, 2022.
