Double American river cruise package released for November 2022

The American Queen Steamboat Company has released a new, top-value package for Australians keen to journey down America’s most famous rivers and immerse themselves in the birthplaces of music which changed the world.

American Queen Steamboat Company’s new 21-night ‘Grand Sounds of America’ river cruise package will see Australians sail on the famous American Queen paddlewheeler down the legendary Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers between Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans in a grand celebration of the musical genres which these river cities created including jazz, country, rock’ n’ roll, blue grass and the blues.

A combination of two back-to-back river cruises, the all-inclusive stay and river cruise package will see guests tap their way along America’s iconic rivers of rhythm, with all the music styles embraced onboard as part of the daily entertainment, and also ashore where America’s great music is embedded in local Southern culture.

The three-week package begins on November 10, 2022, with a night’s stay in LA and an included flight to country music capital, Nashville, for a relaxing three-night stay before the start of the cruise in nearby Clarksville aboard the iconic, 417-guest American Queen – a fully working, six-deck recreation of a classic, opulent, steam paddlewheeler. The 14-night double cruise itinerary stretches all the way south to the home of rock’n’roll and Elvis, Memphis, and the jazz and blues city of New Orleans.

Along the way, guests will journey through living history and take in the majesty of the mighty Mississippi – one of the world’s great rivers – as well as grand Victorian mansions, historic cotton plantations, centuries-old oak trees, charming river towns, American bald eagles, Civil War battlefields and recording studios that celebrate the greats of American music.

The cruise ends in New Orleans for a two-night stay including a three-day streetcar pass, sightseeing tour and admission to popular attractions such as Mardi Gras World where floats are made for the city’s famous Mardi Gras parade every February. A flight back to LA is also included with a final night’s stay in LA.

Including seven nights’ hotel accommodation in three cities, the 14-night river cruise, guided, hop-on-hop-off shore excursions during the cruise, locally-inspired gourmet meals, an unlimited onboard beverage package and also onboard gratuities, the 21-night ‘Grand Sounds of America’ package is available from US$7595 per person, twin share, in a deluxe, river-view cabin. A bonus US$100 per couple onboard spending credit is also available during the second half of the cruise. The early bird fares and onboard credit are available for bookings made before May 31, 2021. International flights between Australia and USA are additional.
