P&O Cruises Australia proud to launch new partnership with Bobby Goldsmith Foundation

P&O Cruises Australia has unveiled details of a new partnership with Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) ahead of its inaugural Pride Cruise, sailing from Sydney in November 2022.

The alliance will add even more glamour and glitz to the cruise while also raising funds for Australia’s oldest community-based HIV organisation.

P&O will donate one dollar for every guest booked on the Pride Cruise to BGF and will also create a range of special onboard events to raise money for the charity, including a dazzling ticketed gala night and a themed cocktail evening.

The gala night will be hosted by BGF ambassador Simon Dunn (pictured right), who is also the ambassador for the Pride Cruise. The first openly gay male to represent any country in the sport of bobsled, Simon is a Sydney Convicts gay and inclusive rugby union club player.

Guests who want to enjoy some fitness as well as fun during the cruise will also be able to book personal training sessions with Simon, with proceeds going to BGF.

As part of its commitment to the Foundation, P&O recently donated a stateroom on the Pride Cruise for auction at a BGF event, raising thousands of dollars for the charity.

P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said the cruise line was proud to create the alliance with the Foundation as part of its ongoing celebration of diversity.

“P&O is committed to diversity and inclusivity so we’re excited to forge this new partnership with Bobby Goldsmith Foundation which will create even more ways for our Pride Cruise to benefit the LGBTQIA+ community,” Mr Myrmell said.

“The Pride Cruise is a fantastic addition to our suite of Main Event cruises, which are known for their celebratory atmosphere and great entertainment, and we think it’s going to be a huge hit.”

BGF CEO Nick Lawson (pictured left) said the Foundation welcomed the partnership, which would help it to raise more funds and reinforce its message of diversity.

“We support a very diverse community and we’re really pleased to see that’s a strong value of P&O’s,” Mr Lawson said. “Diversity and inclusion is critical, and that’s who we are and that’s who P&O is.”

Created especially for members of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as their friends, family and supporters, the Pride Cruise will feature a host of talented artists and entertainers who are champions of equality.

Headlining the performances will be international superstar, accordionist and Berlin boy-wonder Hans the German, the award winning comedy cabaret star who found fame on America’s Got Talent.

Pacific Adventure will depart Sydney on the Pride Cruise on the afternoon of Friday November 4, 2022 and will return on the morning of Monday November 7, 2022.
