Silversea invites curious travellers to unspoiled Kimberley region

Silversea Cruises has released its 2022/23 sailings to Australia’s Kimberley region, calling for guests to get back to nature in ultra-luxury on voyages ranging from 10 to 32 days. Hosted aboard the elegant 144-guest Silver Explorer, travellers will discover the Kimberley’s untamed landscapes over two varied seasons.

“Silversea’s 2022 Kimberley season is now almost sold out, indicating just how eager travellers are to see this beautiful part of the country, and we can’t wait to set sail,” says Adam Radwanski, Silversea’s Managing Director Asia-Pacific.

“The remote Kimberley region is best accessed by ship, and these voyages—some of which are brand new for Silversea—unlock breathtaking natural wonders in places few people have been. Silversea’s signature brand of ultra-luxury elevates the experience, offering once-in-a-lifetime journeys for our guests.”

ALL-INCLUSIVE ULTRA-LUXURY
Silversea’s Silver Explorer will take guests deep into Australia’s Kimberley Coast, showcasing the best of the destination’s beautiful landscapes and remarkable wildlife. A team of expedition experts—which includes marine biologists, ornithologists, naturalists, and other knowledgeable professionals—will share their expertise on board Silver Explorer and lead excursions ashore to unlock Australia’s wilderness frontier. These passionate professionals will enrich guests’ experiences with informative lectures, discussions and recaps on board, in addition to guided Zodiac excursions, hikes, and nature walks ashore—all of which are included in the fare. They bring highly localised knowledge and will introduce travellers to unique wildlife species, such as the saltwater crocodile, rare bird species, and various reptiles—some of which are only seen in this part of the world.

Included experiences range from a Zodiac trip to the King George Falls, where guests will get close enough to feel the spray from the 80m twin cascades, to an introduction to Aboriginal rock art, which dates back more than 50,000 years.

Highlight itineraries include:

  • Darwin to Broome — From 4 June 2022, Silver Explorer will unlock the highlights of the Kimberley Coast on this 10-day voyage. From Darwin, guests will witness the natural beauty of Australia’s Wyndham, the King George River, the Hunter River region, and the Buccaneer Archipelago region, ahead of arriving in Broome. As well as majestic sunsets and captivating wildlife, guests will discover the impressive Bungle Bungle Range and the iconic Wandjina rock paintings, which are said to date back approximately 4,000 years.
  • Broome to Darwin — From 14 June 2022, Silver Explorer will showcase the very best of the Kimberley Coast on a 10-day voyage from Broome to Darwin. Guests will first explore the beautiful Buccaneer Archipelago over two days, often referred to as one of the Kimberley’s best-kept secrets, comprising 800 islands with 12-metre tides. Silver Explorer will then cruise to the Hunter River region over two days, followed by the King George River, and Wyndham, before arriving in Darwin.
  • Darwin to Darwin — From 30 June 2023, Silver Explorer will depart Darwin to embark on a 10-day exploration of the spectacular Kimberley region. Guests will experience a breathtaking tour by air of the striped sandstone towers of the Bungle Bungle ranges in Wyndham, followed by an exploration of one of the Kimberley’s most magnificent wonders, the King George Falls. Guests will enjoy extended calls in the Hunter River region and the Buccaneer Archipelago, discovering fantastic natural phenomena such as the horizontal, reversible waterfall in Talbot Bay. Guests will also visit Adele Island and King George River, before arriving in Darwin.
  • Darwin to Fremantle — From 9 August 2023, Silver Explorer will travel from Darwin to Perth, journeying along the arresting and rugged coastline of Western Australia on an immersive 17-day voyage. This longer voyage option provides guests with the chance to discover the natural beauty of both the Kimberley Coast and the Coral Coast. Guests will cruise by Zodiac in the lagoons of Lacepede Islands, as well as experience an unforgettable expedition to the Dampier Archipelago—a visual feast of rust-coloured rocks, white beaches, and aquamarine seas. Guests will explore the Ningaloo Reef in Exmouth aboard a glass-bottomed boat, enjoying an unobstructed view of spectacular marine life and coral. Silver Explorer will then visit the ‘Galapagos of the South’, the Abrolhos Islands, before arriving in Perth.

SILVER EXPLORER: AN INTIMATE SHIP FOR EXCLUSIVE ACCESS
Welcoming a maximum of 144 guests, Silver Explorer is the most intimate ultra-luxury ship to sail in the Kimberley region. Her small size enables her to access remote and wild areas that would be inaccessible to larger ships. Silversea’s expedition ships offer an unusually high ratio of expedition experts-to-guests and Zodiacs-to-guests, making for immersive and personalised expeditions.

Silver Explorer features spacious ocean-view suites, fine cuisine, and the dedicated services of a butler for every suite, as well as a pillow menu and a mattress choice, premium linens, marble bathrooms, a minibar stocked with guests’ preferences, and state-of-the-art in-suite entertainment systems. Onboard gratuities and unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi are also included.

Moreover, travellers will enjoy regionally-inspired gastronomic experiences, from the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines of the Margaret River region to indigenous bush food—such as boab roots that feature in onboard cuisine, inspired by Executive Chef Alan Groom of El Questro Homestead in the Kimberley. As well as international favourites, guests can sample such dishes as citrus-cured salmon gravlax with green mango dressing; and grilled saltwater barramundi, shaved fennel salad, cherry tomato, and boab root salsa.

Silversea’s Kimberley voyages are priced from AU$13,600, with a 10% early booking bonus offered until 30 September 2021. Enjoying the most inclusive offering in expedition cruising, guests will enjoy a door-to-door service, with private executive transfers, round-trip flights, and transfers and luggage handling included, as well as the broad range of onboard inclusions for which Silversea is renowned. There is also a referral bonus for repeat clients who refer new-to-Silversea guests, valued at AU$650 for each party.
