Sydney gives way to sail this December

Sailing on Sydney Harbour is set to be supercharged this December with two world-class sailing events, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the Australia Sail Grand Prix I Sydney, with spectator viewing available for both aboard Captain Cook Cruises.

For the very first time, both the Rolex Sydney to Hobart and the new grand prix of F50 racing, SailGP, will happen on Sydney Harbour not only in the same month, but within a week. To make the most of this rare sailing nirvana, Captain Cook Cruises is offering savings of up to 20% on Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race spectator cruises and secured a special offer for SailGP On-Water Premium adult passes, valid 17-18 December when you book both.

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, on 26 December, is an Australian sailing institution and one of the world’s greatest ocean races. Captain Cook Cruises has prime position in the eastern suburbs onboard their flagship `Sydney 2000’. Guests joining this premium experience will enjoy bottomless drinks and a lavish lunch in style, together with stunning views of the race fleet from Parsley Bay.

For those looking for a more casual experience, pack the picnic basket with the Christmas feast leftovers and jump onboard the annual Boxing Day Picnic cruise. The atmosphere onboard is alive, with festive revelry as the Sydney to Hobart fleet jostles for position in the lead up to the 1.00pm gun, before following the fleet out to the Sydney Heads.

Sailing enthusiasts who spend 365 days pining for their annual dose of Sydney to Hobart thrills will love the Race to Bondi cruise, which follows the fleet leaders outside the `Heads’ and down the coast towards Bondi.

All Sydney to Hobart cruises are currently on sale with savings up to 20%. The Sydney to Hobart Lunch cruise departing at 11.30am is priced from $179 per person, normally from $245 and includes a choice of lunch and drink packages over two decks. The Boxing Day Picnic cruise starts from $85 per person, normally $99, departing at 11am. The Race to Bondi cruise is priced from $109 per person, normally $140 and departs at 11.30am. All cruises depart from Darling Harbour, King Street Wharf No.1. Both the Picnic and Bondi cruises return approximately 2.00pm and the lunch at 3.00pm.

When you book a Sydney to Hobart Lunch with Captain Cook Cruises, you’ll also receive an exclusive promotional code entitling you to 10% off a SailGP On-Water Premium adult ticket. SailGP On-Water Premium passes are priced at $280 per person, including premium dining and drinks onboard super-cruiser Sydney 2000, exclusive viewing position inside the exclusion zone and live race commentary.

“We’re hoping this incentive will entice sailing enthusiasts and novices to hit the Harbour this December. Everyone loves the colour and magic of a spinnaker start on Boxing Day if the wind is right.” said Nick Lester, General Manager of Captain Cook Cruises.
