Intrepid Travel launches new premium range of tours for local travellers

Intrepid Travel – the world’s largest adventure travel company – has today launched the first of its local trips under the new Intrepid Premium offering. The new range of tours, across Australia and New Zealand, are available to book now and are departing in January 2022.

Earlier this week, Intrepid Travel announced that its Peregrine Adventures brand will be phased out from January 2022, as the operator focuses on extending its higher-end travel options under the Intrepid Premium and Comfort ranges.

“We are thrilled to be launching these local trips as part of our brand new Intrepid Premium offering for travellers,” says James Thornton, Intrepid Travel CEO. “These tours are aimed at providing Australian and New Zealand customers with local holidays that they can enjoy despite international border restrictions.”

“Intrepid Premium trips feature our highest standard of accommodation and best tour leaders, so our message is to book locally, because there are incredible travel experiences right on your doorstep,” he added.

The new Intrepid Premium tours include:

  • New Zealand South Island: On this 10 day adventure, travellers will journey from Christchurch to Queenstown. The trip includes an overnight cruise surrounded by the magnificent Milford Sound, a stay at the beautiful Punakaiki beach, a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the West Coast Wildlife Centre, an exhilarating jet boat ride on the Shotover River, a unique foraging and dining experience on an Otago deer station and more. Prices start at $4,895.
  • New Zealand North Island: During this seven day trip, travellers will discover the incredible wine region of Waiheke Island, tour the glow-worm filled Waitomo Caves, pay a visit to Rotarua’s Te Puia dotted with hot springs, mud pools and geysers, and uncover the natural wonders of Tongariro National Park. The tour also includes a private tour of Hobbiton to hear stories about the production of these iconic films, and an evening cruise around Wellington Harbour on a private catamaran. Prices start at $4,355
  • Red Centre: Travellers will marvel at the Field of Lights art installation, learn about the culture of the Lurijita and Pertame people, and savour a lunch of delicious bush foods on this six-day adventure starting at Alice Springs. The trip includes a tour of the West McDonnell Ranges, a visit to Kings Canyon, and two fabulous multi-course meals under the stars in Kings Canyon and Yulara. Walk the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta and farewell your tour with a dawn promenade around the base of Uluru, Australia’s most famous landmark. Prices start at $4,995
