Viking releases 2021 River Cruise brochure

Viking has released its 2021 River Cruise brochure, with over 200 pages packed full of itineraries sailing the rivers of Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Asia and Egypt, as well as details on Viking’s brand-new ship, new itineraries, shore excursions as well as two new pre/post-cruise extensions.

Featured in the 2021 brochure is the brand-new 82-guest Viking Osiris, purpose-built by Viking for comfort in one of the world’s most intriguing destinations and offering the 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary. Marking the line’s third ship on Egypt’s Nile River, Viking Osiris will bring an unprecedented luxury to the Nile and is already proving incredibly popular, with very limited availability for 2021. Priced from $6,995 per person.

The 2021 river brochure showcases a cruise-only Portugal itinerary, the eight-day Douro’s Valley & Vineyards from Porto to Porto. The itinerary is identical to Viking’sPortugal’s River of Goldhowever it provides an option for guests who prefer to skip the two-night land portion in Lisbon. Both itineraries will be offered in 2021. The eight-day Douro’s Valley & Vineyards is priced from $5,395 per person, including free economy flights for one guest and flights from $1,695 for the second, or business class flights from $6,495 per person, as part of Viking’s Explorer Sale.

Two additional pre and post-cruise extensions are highlighted in the new brochure, each providing a seamless on-ground experience for deeper destination immersion, including first class hotel accommodation in city or town centres, transfers, included excursions and the services of an experienced Viking Host throughout.

The four-night Great Homes, Gardens & Gin extension will provide an in-depth look at the lives of English nobility while showcasing several country estates that have served as the settings of acclaimed television productions such as Poldark, Wolf Hall and Downton Abbey, including Viking’s Privileged Access visit to Highclere Castle. The extension is available on the eight-day Rhine Getaway and is priced from $2,699 per person.

Plus, guests can now add five-nights in Krakow & Warsaw to the 12-day Kiev, Black Sea & Bucharest river cruise, taking in Bucharest, Romania’s elegant capital, as well as all the highlights of Ukraine — from Kiev to Odessa. The extension is priced from $1,999 per person.

In addition, the eight-day Romantic Danube itinerary will feature two full days in Vienna, Austria, allowing guests more time to explore this exceptional city. The itinerary update for 2021 means guests will see an amended embarkation and disembarkation port, sailing to and from Regensburg and Budapest in 2021 rather than Nuremberg and Budapest.

Finally, the 12-day Kiev, Black Sea & Bucharest itinerary will feature a new included shore excursion, the Odessa Art Museum Tour. Housed in the grand neoclassical Potocki Palace, the Odessa Art Museum’s vast collection includes sculptures and decorative arts spanning hundreds of years and paintings by European artists of the 16th through early 19th centuries. The itinerary is priced from $5,995 per person, including free economy flights for one guest and flights from $1,895 for the second, or business class flights from $6,495 per person, as part of Viking’s Explorer Sale.

With a fleet of more than 70 ships sailing the rivers of Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Asia and Egypt, Viking is the river cruise expert. Known as ‘The Thinking Person’s Cruise’, Viking’s enrichment program features onboard activities like lectures, roundtables and destination-inspired entertainment, as well as immersive on-shore experiences that take guests deep into local life and behind closed doors with its Privileged Access program.

The Viking Explorer Sale is applicable to a range of 2021 river itineraries when booked before 31 March 2020, featuring savings of up to $4,000 per couple*.
